Commissioning Date: September, 2013
Project Overview
ISI Water was contracted to supply the equipment for two identical water plants for the Tasiast gold mine in Mauritania. Each plant is rated at 450,000 USGPD and is expandable to 675,000 USGPD (2,557 m3/d). ISI Water supplied the following equipment for the project and aided with installation and commissioning:
- 4X 225S SWRO Skids
- Multimedia filter systems
- Cartridge Filters
- Fybroc feed pumps
- Fybroc backwash pumps
- Chemical Dosing Systems
- Clean In Place Systems
- Control systems
- Prefab. buildings (assembled on site)
The SWRO System
The reverse osmosis system features a FEDCO MSS high pressure pump, FEDCO HPBe (turbo) energy recovery device, and Protec 1000 psi pressure vessels. The plant is fully automated with a DeltaV control system. All of the low pressure process pumps are Fybroc FRP pumps to avoid corrosion. The chemical dosing system features Milton Roy dosing pumps.
The Pretreatment
The feed water at each plant is first run through a set of horizontal media filters by Nemato. The filtrate from the media filters then passes through 5 micron and then 1 micron cartridge filters. The plant was designed to accommodate a second stage of media filters in the event that the feed water needs to be treated further.
