Project Overview
ISI Water was contracted to supply and install two containerized 75,000 US gallon per day (305 m3/d) SWRO system for supply of potable water to a high end resort and golf course on Abaco Island in the Bahamas. The project included refurbishing and upgrading an existing RO skid as well as supplying a new RO system with well pumps, product pumps, chemical dosing and a motor control center. The RO systems, chemical dosing and motor controls were all built in insulated ISO containers.
The SWRO System
The reverse osmosis systems feature Wheatley high pressure pumps, ERI boost pumps, ERI PX-70 energy recovery devices, Schneider Electric motor control center (VFDs for all process pumps), and Protec 1000 psi pressure vessels. The plant is fully automated with an OPTO22 control system designed, built and programmed by ISI Water.
The Product Distribution System
The water plant is located in close proximity to the ocean and the elevation is low, making it susceptible to flooding in the event of a hurricane. The product distribution system was designed using submersible well pumps installed in HDPE housings and mounted horizontally so that the entire product distribution system can be fully submerged with no ill effects. There are 7 pumps of varying sizes to accommodate the daily flow demands and potential fire water service.
